Do your non-photo partners adopt 'pet names' for your gear?

The other day my wife asked, "Have you seen Izzy?" It's a name we've adopted for her Canon IXUS IS(izzy)800.

At weddings it's alot of fun 'cause I find myself asking for gear by HER terminology...for example

The Fatboy = 70-200/2.8
The Old Fatboy = 70-200/4
Petal lens = 17-55 ???
The boring lens = 85
The Card 'Dufer' thingy = HD Storage Device
Dorky Flash thing = Demb Flip It...

There are heaps more but I was just wondering how many of you have partners who do the same, or do you have 'pet-names' for pieces of gear?

So if my (to-be) Mk2 takes on the masculine identity, will that make me gay? ... the other guy:)

Yeah I suppose you could call it a "nerdy" hobby - considering there's alot of calculation involved in terms of distance, light etc. However with my wife (a scientist phd student), you'd think she'd have some degree of techy-speak...afterall - I do make attempts to generically name some of her wip-wop what-ya-ma-callit species :)

You'll only know when you've got him/her in your hands and have got to know each other :D

Frequently smiling at the camera is ok, but fondling should be done in private.

Well my wife likes shooting as much as I do so I suppose I can't really answer the question.

She does however refer to the FZ1 as her "competition".

Yeah, "your camera crap" is most common around here.

Same here but when she wants some of her art photographed or the kids at school plays it turns into "stuff"

No. No partner right now but when I did, there were no nicknames given out to the camera stuff...maybe to me but not the gear:P

Mine calls it, "Not again..." or "Naaaaattteee" in a nagging tone. So I guess it can be called Jr based on that.
