Monitor or TV???

Hi, hoping that someone can give me a little guidance.

Was looking to buy a new PC, got that all sorted, but needed something to view it all on.

Was originally thinking of the Dell 30", but at £800 it is steep. Also thinking of a 32" Samsung TV (SAMSUNG R88 32 inch HD LCD - LE32R88BD). it does have a PC input, but this is a D-type socket, and i will have a digital output from the PC. not sure how this will work but i know you do get a converter the VGA, but am i going to loose the benifits?? also, its only £469, so a bit more than half the price!!

Any help would be greatfully recieved!

If it were my money, I would go with the monitor as it will be better suited to veiwing fine details that may not show up on a TV. Watch TV on a TV. Do your Photo worjk on monitor. I have worked with dell monitors before, they are NICE.

You would get higher resolutions with a monitor vs. a TV. If you are serious about your pics, IMHO, I'd go with a monitor, and leave the TV for watching the movies.

Agreed. Monitor for the computer, tv for watching Grey's Anatomy. My brother uses a 27" tv for a monitor, and I think it looks terrible. I'd much prefer to use a smaller monitor if money is a concern.

Any preference on monitors. Would like a 30", but anything bigger than 24" would be good.

Never used any of the 30 inchers, but the Apple usually is regarded as the best, but also the most expensive. The Dell 30" gets rave revues as well. I personally have the Dell 24" 2407wfp-HC. It was a HUGE step up from me 17" TN panel. I really like it and have no real desire to go to a 30".

If you can afford and can justify the price of one of the 30 inchers, I'd definitely get one. They are NICE! If you want to stay more budget oriented, the Dell 24" (wfp-HC, NOT the E248wfp) is a great alternative. Dell also offers a 27", but I am not sure which panel type it uses.
