This was shot @ 3 different locations. Some were edited using Lightroom (you can tell which).
Others I just went right to Photoshop CS due to speed issues (512MB RAM = needing upgrading soon...)
Some of them I couldn't get the color balance right :( Hence why the white shirt looks a little blue-ish on some photos.
I did the best I could, using some tricks I picked up.

Comments, critique, edits of these images, and tips for the future always welcomed ;)

I'm not a big fan of how some of the bright/shadow parts turned out, especially the 1st and 5th.

Did you use any fill flash? I notice some dark areas in a couple, like her eyes in the 2nd.

Overall, the sun seems harsh. Were they taken with the sun low in the sky, but still getting bright, direct sun? That's a tough lighting situation, in my limited experience.

I think if the sun didn't seem so harsh, they would be pretty nice

To fix the blue, go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue Saturation in Photoshop. Put the blue slider down.

You did a really great job! The location is very nice and the model is very pretty. My biggest problem with these shots is that they look too sharp and the model's skin is just a little bit patchy. I took the previous poster's color corrected image and ran it through the imagenomic's "default total image" action to make her skin look a little more even and give the image a softer overall feel.

Honestly, you're doing a great job with the equipment that you have. Shooting in direct sunlight and in shadow areas is difficult without using reflectors and/or flash units. My advice is to start adding light if you want to kick the quality of your photography up to the next level. A simple collapsible gold reflector or flash could have greatly improved these photos.

Here are a few more of your images with imagenomic just so you can check out the effect: http://s264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/ConsensusTrance/ (external link)

Good luck with your future shooting!

No :( I did not use any fill flash. The lighting was almost exactly as you've
just said. I think I need to try it with some sort of light diffuser or something.
But no $$ for one right now so... Or with less natural lighting + a DIY reflector?

Sadatk - thanks! I'll be sure to try that on the pictures I have problems with.
I see how excellent it worked on the picture you edited :) :)

Consensus Trance - What about using a sort of 'soft light' type action
in Photoshop? To give the overall image that softness quality? Would that
help some of them? (As the one you selected?) The others - I'm not sure.
Some seem just right and others are like it seems a little unnatural.

But maybe its just me. Either way all the edits were fantastic :) :)
I plan to try and use a DIY gold reflector today when me and my friends
Christina & Kayla go for a walk around this wildlife preserve. See what I can
get. Also will experiment with the on-board flash... Thanks all :D :D

i think you should get in closer on some shots, because to me it seems like there is a bit too much going with the background. namely, 1 and 4. i would go for a tighter crop on 2 as well. looks like a tough lighting situation too.

nice shots though, keep at it! looking forward to seeing another shoot.

I like the images and the model is superby, however, I found the water flow from the fountain a bit distracting and thought that a slower shutter speed would have given the impression of flowing water.

yeah I agree...some of them do look unnatural. All I did was run them through the default actions so you could easily tweak them further to your liking. The program has lots of filters that you can dial in with opacity masks and stuff. For example, there are skintone masks that will isolate the skin and leave the rest of the image untouched. Personally, I've had great luck with the program and find it easier and faster than photoshop. The only thing I shoot is wome n and glamour...that's it...and I use this program for every photoshoot. Photoshop can be kind of clumsy for certain things...and I find that Imagenomics portraiture actions work awesome on women when they're dialed in correctly.

BTW - a lot of the bad processing that you see online is the result of a bad image in the first place. If a shot is slightly soft, the skin smoothening and filters will often look really fake. However when a shot is in good focus, exposed correctly, and color is correct then the filters can look very very natural if used well.

There is a free download here

and the filter actions are here:

Good luck with trying out the strobe and reflector card! I hope the next shoot goes well for ya

big piece of white foam core board or a circular autoshade can make for a good reflector in a pinch.

Actually I have a DIY reflector - a white 20"x30" foam board with stretched
'gold foil' fabric attached to it. It actually works good, having tried it out
earlier in the day. But stupid me forgot it when I jumped in the car!
Some more edits based on the advise here :)
