Hey Vince, I see that you live in Rosemead, so if I were you and really bothered by the dust in the viewfinder, I would just drive down I-5 'til I got to Irvine and stop in the Canon Service Center and they will clean the sensor and vf for free in about 90min.:):)

Yea in all the searching for my issue with the dud 5D I bought and returned I read quite a bit about the viewfinder dust issue that the 5D has. Its well documented in forums everywhere. Def one of the things I look forward to being fixed in the Mark II.

Well, I guess I can count myself fortunate - hasn't been an issue with both of mine and the one gets dragged up mountains, through forests and all over the place.

Thank you Ben - one of those kinds of things that just sort of snuck up on me ;).

Thanks for the heads up, I was thinking about that. Anyway I called Canon today and they recommended me to exchange it for another one since I just purchased it and have no had it for more than 2 days. He also told me that I could open the part that holds the focusing screen and use a dust blower. I did that today and it's CLEAN!! :):D:eek::cool:

If it's just in the viewfinder, you won't even notice it after a while. It's just the nature of the 5D. I do understand though, when I first got my 5D i wanted it nice and new looking but I can't remember the last time I thought about the big chunks in the VF.

I feel the same way about this.
