Well, I'm still stuck with PS7 so I want to upgrade to CS3. I here you can edit RAW straight from the camera  I don't think it would kill your computer. How much hard drive space do you have?

CS3 is working fine on my entry-level family computer (P-IV, 1Gb RAM, 200 Gb HD).

Congratulations on your first paid shoot. I am sure it will not be the last. You have already learned the most important thing. Give the client what they want. Sometimes I am so surprised by the photos that are chosen because they are not always technically what I think is the best. I love the angel wings.

Congratulations for the paid session. How was it from the photographer's pint of view? I know you told us the client was a friend. Nevertheless I guess it was something very special?

From my point of view...it was hard. My friend is VERY particular and kind of demanding. We did pics in my house, at a nearby park, and at her grandmother's farm as well as a family session 2 days later. She saw the pics and came over wanting to see more edits and see all the shots in case I missed something she likes. But, I made her happy and that's a good thing because she knows a lot of people and will probably be a super client in the future.

Tiffany- the trick I use, since viewing on any screen is only 72 DPI, resize them that way. Save as jpeg medium quality or similar, and resize to 1024. You'll find the images are only good for viewing then, and not anywhere close to print quality for anything larger than 1x1inch.

Thanks for the tip!

Thank you. The wings were an eBay special. But, I loved them and can't wait to use them on my own new baby (8 months away).

I understood from your comments about her choices in images and crop that it was not a piece of cake. IMHO, she'd better rely more on your advices She'd have better crops, and possibly better poses from her daughter with shorter sessions. The only thing important is she was happy. Such clients are very hard to content. Congratulations.

Congratulations, a great shoot!

For some strange reason, I also like #6. Request permission to practice my G&N editing noob skills on it.

Good lord! What did you do?!?! I like it. Maybe a bit heavy on the smoothing for a 2 year old is my first reaction but moving back a bit from the computer makes it look more natural. Care to share what you did? Please. :) I like to learn.

Eismann, Katrin, Photoshop Restoration and Retouching

Great book.

- your color, tone and contrast were fine; no changes
- Sharpen brightness only, eyes, teeth, mouth
- I cheat on skin smoothing; just Imagemonic Noiseware/Pro, Portrait, all but eyes and mouth
- Desaturate all yellow, teeth
- Very gentle plastic wrap, lips
- +saturation of a spot of red in the corners of eyes only
- Levels layer, move black point, apply only to eyebrows, opacity to taste
- Selective color, opacity/color to taste, eyes only
- ..if she'd had red in the whites of eyes, desaturate all red
- just a smidge of color adjustments, but only a very light touch (specifically, very light Velvia Film effect, Alien Skin Exposure add-in)
- apply gentle blur, paint that in on the sweater, bit around the head, done

Glad you liked it.

Processing here is different. In this case, for some reason, I really wanted to blur the sn*t out of that background and give her a bit of angelic glow. Eased up a bit on the skin, and you're right that looks a notch better.

Like I said, FWIW, G&N PP is new to me.

G'night.
