Rachel,

I'll join others here and welcome you to this forum!

You sound like you've followed the same path as I have! I did my Basic Training using advanced digicams like the S3 IS. they are great for that, because they have all the manual controls, get us into learning about photography, and then they beckon us onward because we experience the shortcomings of these smaller cams and learn about the possibilities!

Your pics show a real eye! They are the proof that the best pics are not the result of the camera but they are because of the person behind the camera. You will really enjoy upgrading your equipment because you love realizing your visions!

Welcome.

Fantastic shots for someone who claims them self to be a beginner.

I especially like the tree shot. :D

Once again Thank you for all the welcomes and inspiring comments, I am sure reading these nice things actually made me take better pictures this weekend (I was taking pictures for my cat shelter that I volunteer at)

I am adding one of my pictures from Saturday, It was actually a quick snap, while I was taking pictures of a cat that we were making the cat of the month this little kitten poked his head through the make shift back drop and had such an expression in his eyes I hoped she would stay still long enough for me to take her picture...and she did

Yes, Whitehill towards Borden way?

We are north of Guildford by about 3 miles or so. But I frequently have to get down to the south coast (Portsmouth amongst others) on business and depending on the time of day I intend to avoid Hindhead for the next few years if I can  though having said that I hope once they have started properly on the tunnel portals the roads will ease a little back to the bad old days before they started!

Yes exactly next to Bordon, I used to work just past Guildford at a town called Chertsey plus I used to work in Guildford. I do miss the country side from the UK, I wish I had been more focussed on photography while I was there.
