According to a japanese research agency, Nikon sold more dSLR than Canon in 2007...

This is just an information, so please no bashing on how Canon lost it, Nikon became much better, ...

And if a mod thinks this should be moved elsewhere, feel free...

Nikon's been ahead of Canon in Japan for a while, so this is not entirely unexpected.

Oh I love irrational fanboy ranting posts on which brand is better. Shucks...

Personally, I could care less, gear is just to let me make photos, as long as it gets the job done at a reasonable price and doesn't get in the way with stupid ergonomics.

A Camera brand is like politics and religion for some people lol They are so biased towards one side. I don't understand that and never will.

Back and forth they will go, seemingly forever....
Nikon was #1 in Japan in 2005
Canon was #1 in Japan in 2006
Nikon in 2007
2008?

Really, it should make no difference to anyone (other than their Exec's) as they both are large enough that they are not going anywhere.

In the end, both can take pictures, both have advantages and disadvantages. The reason I chose canon is that I've worked with for most of my life, I like the less-cluttered feeling of canon, and I like the turn direction of Canon lens's focal length rings for zooms. I know, the reasons seem dumb, but that is kind of how close canon and nikon are to me as a photojournalist.

2007 World Sales Figures:

Canon: 3.2M SLRs, 25M total digital cameras
Nikon: 3M SLRs, 11M total digital cameras

Not completely sure on accuracy as it was translated from a Chinese site by someone on another forum.

Nikon is actually ahead in Japan only as far as I can remember, not worldwide.

Yes, this article refers only to Japan. And I totally agree with you that it's not the brand that will make you take better photos...

Worldwide Canon pwns Nikon, but in Japan (where this stat comes from ) Nikon sells more than Canon.

The Land Of Bokeh has many Nikonians.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

the amount of nikon vs. canon posts there are popping up is crazy!!

cameras where made to take pictures with and have fun with! not so people can debate over and over about which brand is ahead in sales...

Good for Nikon. A brand does not a good photographer make.
