I would appreciate some feedback on these as I'm starting to think about approaching some Juniors to be my ambassadors.....

Any comments and suggestions for improvements would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Nice work Tiff!
Man I can't believe you have kids that are juniors!

#1 is ok, lacks a little punch. But I think what bugs me the most is her reflection behind her, the two black "spots".
#2 yeah cropping is a bit off, ya know what they say, never crop at joints.
#3 I actually like.
#4 not sure I care for the pose, but good location.
#5 MUCH better pose for the location, works for me.
#6 looks nice too.
#7 is different...cool.
#8 is a nice close up, bet it looks good in color too.

Keep it up Tiff!

I guess I should clarify that I teach and am a Junior class advisor. Sorry, I'm only 27 and my little one is 20 months.

And, thanks for the comments.

2. I would suggest cropping at the waist.

3. I just plain old like this one :)

4. I like the location and the pose looks fine but I would suggest possibly shooting from a position slightly higher (by standing on a chair or something) so it doesn't look like she's looking directly sideways.

6. This one looks great but the background is a tad distracting. If you lasso the girl and inverse the selection so you can use a gaussian blur it might look a little better. I'd try it out myself but I have to pack up so I can head home.

That's my 2 cents :)

Seems people like #3, but doesn't she seem like she's in a box? She looks crowded and cramped to me. I like from 4 to then end; the first few seem awkward.

LOL...my bad probably, I read it as it was your kids being juniors. Sorry!

1's good. You could gry cloning out the shingle, but it's off in a corner already so not a real eye-catcher.
2 - I think it's not a very good angle for her. Same with 4. They're both unflattering to her waist.
3 - might want to see whether you could control reflections with a poalrizer when posing someone in a window like that. The reflections area bit disconcerting. Other than that, very nice.
5 - the rails just bother me a bit. Not sure exactly what to do there, possibly work that scene more if you were to do it again.
6 - Good one. Could do with a tad shallower DoF, maybe to throw out the lines in the steel panel.
7 & 8 - move her away from the wall or use a wider aperture; the bricks are somewhat intrusive; softening the joints wold be good, especially when you're dealing with monochrome.

Nice shots Tiffany. I like what you did with #7 with the small framed shot inside of a larger shot. Not really any other suggestions that have not been mentioned already above. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Kitten. I agree on #6. Learning experience.

Funny you should say that. The first few were some of the first I had taken. :) I still like #3 even if she is "boxed." I don't know why, but I do.

Thanks. I missed that.

3 - might want to see whether you could control reflections with a poalrizer when posing someone in a window like that. The reflections area bit disconcerting. Other than that, very nice.

Duh, why didn't I think of that. :o I'd just worry that you'd be able to see the awful mess that lurks behind the windows.

5 - the rails just bother me a bit. Not sure exactly what to do there, possibly work that scene more if you were to do it again.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely go there again as it's only a couple of blocks from my house. Kind of a hard location though because you have to be really careful to catch the right angle to avoid the light filtering through the steps.

6 - Good one. Could do with a tad shallower DoF, maybe to throw out the lines in the steel panel.

Agreed. Something I learned from POTN after the fact.

7 & 8 - move her away from the wall or use a wider aperture; the bricks are somewhat intrusive; softening the joints wold be good, especially when you're dealing with monochrome.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to try it. There's not much room to maneuver but I'll definitely give it a shot.

Thanks Robert. I was really just messing around when I did #7 and experimenting with tools in elements. But, I think I'll try this one again in the future. :)

I just noticed something else. TRY GETTING HER TO FACE TO THE RIGHT (her left). In all of these she is facing our left, and I know that lighting conditions might hinder posing in other ways but that's why you should have a flash and maybe something to act as a reflector.

Thanks kitten. I had a flash and I used it. She just naturally turned her head this way. Believe it or not, she looked REALLY crappy this day as she was pretty sick. But, she came anyway as a favor to me. I think I'd rather have natural looking poses facing the same direction than unnatural ones.

Ok. From the shots I'd never be able to tell she was sick. Now that I'm home I got around to some editing (attempt) and heres what I got for #6. I admit the boarder probably doesn't look that great but I just did it out of habbit

Great shots! I am very curious, can we see #'s 7 & 8 in color? I really love what you did with #7. Great work overall.
