Since the water drop theme is going pretty heavy in the forum I thought I would give it a try. This is the my first attempt... needs tweaking... I've always wanted to give this a try. Good times!

Any and all comments welcomed.

PHENEMONAL! That is all I can say..... Simply Fabulous! Why is it that everytime you try something new, you do it seamlessly...?

Thank you Kristy.

Why is it that everytime you try something new, you do it seamlessly...?

I wouldn't say seamlessly... but... I do have the best educators in the world here in the Macro forum! I learn from them all the time. :)

Thanks for the kind words.

Thank you Kabbalah.

This is so simple.

What you need...

Kitchen sink
Glass dish large enough to extend to each side wall of the sink. This gives you room underneath the dish.

1 flash head off camera. I used a gel taped to the flash head for the blue color. I placed the flash as a slave in a 1 gallon ziplock bag...so the obvious doesn't happen...a wet flash isn't cool!

had another flash attached to an off camera cord... and moved it around until it created the light I wanted.

Camera was on a tripod with a remote so I could guess when the water would splash.

Black construction paper as the background.

Set your sink to trip.... fire shots.

Camera settings
5D set to ISO 200 1/200th a sec RAW F/13 or F/16 manual focus. Prefocus your shots...

430ex in the bag set to ETTL +2 1/3rd
580ex on the cord set to -2/3rds

Really simple setup... what is great about the Rosco gels... you can come up with any color you like.

Hope this helps and thanks for the comments.

How about a few more?

Playing with the gels...

oh wow...I'm about to post some of my own, or I was going to. I'm not so sure I want to compete with yours, lol. Absolutely fantastic. I can't get mine in focus that well...then again I'm only using the xt's flash and a 100mm macro. Less light, less quality. I know, I'll go get a bazillion candle power spot light and I'll post some radicaly pictures tomorrow! Again, very nice pictures.

No worries... post your shots. We all start somewhere... these are just test shots... I have other ideas in the works... all in fun. Glad you like the shots and thanks for the comments.

Note to self... do not drop the 430ex flash on tile floors... it breaks the flash tube. SON OF A!!! LOL it just slipped... now to call Canon and find out about the $100 repair... GOOD TIMES

Wowzer! Those are truly amazing. Now I gotta give it a try. Did you place one of the flashes below the edge of the clear bowl and shoot through the glass?

Well Done!

Yes... and yes :) The flash went right under where the drop was landing in the dish. Don't forget to place the flash in sealed plastic bag :)

Thank you Brian for the kind words. I like the first one as well. :) Looks like melted glass.

Thanks again all.
