...at least two really bad ones and possibly a third. I say really bad as I didn't go looking for them, they showed up in an image taken with a 1/8th shutter on my brand new 40D. Never seen anything like it on my 20D.

Here are the two little nasties at 100%:

They can both still be seen in this image which as been downsized to 25% of the original:

Red down 1/5 across 1/3, Blue down 1/2 across 1/5.

Does any one know what is acceptable, I can clone these out of all 50 shots I took tonight, but I don't think I should have to, especially at such a relatively short shutter speed

Not acceptable. I'd return for a replacement. Hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle:-)

Where'd you buy it from? I'm pretty sure Canon can remap out bad pixels, but i'd just ask for a replacement. I haven't tested my 40Ds for this, but I don't use shutter speeds longer than 1sec because the people just won't stand still long enough ;)

Got it from AC, only two weeks old. Not sure how often it will be an issue on normal day to day stuff.

I take it you upgraded both 20D's?
