I am having issues with the recording of images to the camera especially with highspeed burst. This first a couple of days ago when I lost some images. I was missing 30 shots I took, when I went to download them, they were gone. I was able to recover them via a recovery tool... So, thinking it was a memory card issue, I formatted the card.
Now I am testing it. I shoot a burst of 10 images and only 7 get recorded according to the number of pics left indicator. This is a sandisk 4 gig card. I have actually tried 2 cards with the same result.
If I shoot a burst of 5 images only 3 or 4 get recorded. This is a huge problem for me and not sure where to look for help. Anyone else experienced this?

How do you know how many shots were taken in a burst?
How did you count them?
I don’t know about you, but unless they taken with very slow shutter speed, I am usually not able to count their exact number before reviewing them.

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

I'm not sure you can rely on the "remaining images" count to determine how many were recorded to the card. This value is an estimate only since the size of an image file is not constant, particularly if you are shooting jpg. It could be that your images files are smaller than the camera's estimate, so it will think there is still space for more than you might expect after a burst.

If you know for a fact that you have made x exposures, and there are not x on the CF card when it's finished writing, then you have a problem: CF card, or software glitch.

That you were able to recover some of the missing images suggests that you may have, or have had, a CF card problem, but I just want to be sure that you aren't chasing images you only think are missing because you are using the "images remaining" estimate.

Check the filenames to see if all the images were recorded. Don't go by the shots remaining counter. It's a guesstimate.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Looks like thats the issue! Thanks, saved me from a heart attack....Guess I worried too soon before checking more closely.
