Oh man--I love this shot with the movement, against the dark background! And that is my favorite place to shoot birds, I've got to get back down there soon!

I like the sort of subdued lighting and wing blur. I wish there was more room on the left for him to fly into.

Much going on at Merritt ? I was there the day after new years and there wasn't a bird to be found :(.

thanks, yea i wish there was more on the left too but this was an lucky really in focus shot (it flew it out of nowhere while i was shooting at the other ones in the trees).

Yea there was a ton of wildlife everywhere, i saw at least six kinds of ducks, more coots than you could fit in a fisheye lens, wood storks, ibis, hawks, ospreys, eagles, spoonbills, every kind of egret and heron, tons of different shorebirds, and white pelicans. There was a LOT there, i was rather amazed. The only thing i didn't see was a wood duck (saw a pair flying way away from me though), and no more bitterns this time of year.

Thats a really nice shot the colors and lighting work really well with each other, and the wingtip blur is just very pleasing to look at .Very nicely done.
