So I just found out a couple days ago a friend in my class has access to the industry preview days this Wednesday and Thursday, so we're going to go all day Thursday.
Hopefully the people attending the industry preview will be more respectful, and lesser in volume than the public days...

This is my first time going to the Detroit show, although I've been to Toronto's several times.

I'm hoping there will be more light at the Detroit show, but I'm not banking on it.

I've gotten an 18-50\2.8 and 30D since the last time I went to an auto show, and I'm hoping this will be sufficient at say ISO1600 & 2.8. Last year when I went to the Toronto and used the 50 1.8, I ended up with about 1,000 pictures of bumpers and headlights, they were cool and unique, but it got boring fast.

I also just got a lightsphere dealie, has anyone ever used one of these with cars? I only have an old manual Vivitar flash though.

Anyone else going to the show that day? Is there supposed to be anything special this year?

Excited.

With the 18-50, you should be able to get some good shots there.

I also just got a lightsphere dealie, has anyone ever used one of these with cars? I only have an old manual Vivitar flash though.

I have a couple 283s. Maybe for the shots with models, but I wouldn't expect to light the cars with it.

No, I'm not going. Have fun!

I'm going Thursday. Taking the only lens I have, 17-85. Not the best lens but it's better than my point and shoot I took a couple of years ago.

A few pics from the 2006 show here (external link).

Look for me! I plan to be there from 1-8pm likely. With the aforementioned gear, and a Lowepro 200 backpack camera bag thing.

It'll be a treat. The detroit show is alot better than Toronto's. I went last year and the lighting was great, even for ordinary cars! Of course all the concepts will be on podiums.

Oh, good call, that's pretty hot.

I'm also hoping a Reventon will be there.

I wonder if a Veyron would be there... never seen one of those, doubt I ever will.
