OK MJ; you were right. With the 2X converter on it was like looking down a tunnel with very little light at the end of it; but hey! you don't know until you try it do you? I had 2 modelling lamps/flashes and the ring flash but still struggled to get enough light down the lens, the subject was deceased so I was able to slow the shutter speed right down to get more light to the sensor.

I then put two tubes on as well as the 2X converter, virtually black looking down the view finder; virtually impossible to focus. I had to put it on bulb and the shot below is a 45 second exposure, although with the extra tubes added there doesn't seem much increase in magnification. Both shots are pretty poor but it was just an experiment to see what happens when you do silly things. Strange thing though, usually when I have the 2X converter on; Zoom Browser usually reports the focal length at double the lenses true length (obviously I hear you saying) not with the MPe65, it reports it at 65mm with it on or without it. Don't think I'll bother again, the end results are pretty poor but there again I'm not the best macro photographer to start with.

In both shots the MPe65 was set at 5X; added together it made for quite a lengthy rig set up.

I've only got soft boxes and brolly's so had to improvise a couple of reflectors from the wifes baking foil ;) Jesus; never realised my garage looked such a mess!

Yes I have 3 LCD screens, that setup is also linked to an overhead projector as well. I also have another setup just to the side of that with another two screens, that ones running Vista so I don't use it much. I don't play on line games; I don't play games full stop, my brain ain't quick enough. I did like playing Doom with all the cheats in place, never run out of ammo and can't be killed; great! My bike is a Honda GoldWing GL1500 6 cylinder, it's the same as in my avatar except I coloured that one purple for some strange reason that I can't remember now

Think #1 came out pretty well :)
Not as high a magnification but check out these shots from one of the experts at doing this type of thing - the setup is not disimilar to yours.

Some good pics there, I have to say they look more like drawings than photo's though. Quick tip for those that use a set up like mine, when you take the card out of the camera to look at the shots on the computer; turn off the modelling lights; or when you come back 20 minutes later you'll find the top of the flash unit warped :(

They are Elinchrom D-Lite 2's, must be about the cheapest on the market. They're not overly powerful but ok for a small studio (or in my case Garage ;)) I got mine from Warehouse Express for £399.

http://www.warehouseexpress.com …ting/elinchrom.html#dlite (external link)

If I know what I know now I would have paid that little extra and gone for the D-Lite 4's as sometimes when working out side my own Garage I could have used that extra power.
