This is great. I love those stars. The only thing is that the horizon does not seem quite straight.

thanks for the comments guys, any others?

the horizon appears slanted because of how the coast curves I think, my tripod was level when I shot it.

cool shot. How did you do it? I'm trying to figure out by what you meant by 19min 16 sec expose but I'm still learning so.

it means that my shutter was open and exposing for almost 20 minutes while I sat there and waited.

This is an amazing shot...if I have to be very picky about the shot...I would've avoided those 2 bright lamps in the middle...little distracting for me...

otherwise...a very nice shot...

there wasn't much of a way to avoid them, but I do know what you mean, they are a bit distracting. thanks for the comments.

Did you do anything post processing to handle the noise?

I've been fooling around with long exposures, but anything over 5 minutes has so much noise in it, I just end up deleting them?

19 minutes seems so long to be this crisp!

Great work!

Nice shot. I love night photography! :-)

I think the starburst effect on the lights really adds to the photograph.

Pat, are you using a low ISO setting when you take the long exposures?

I notice that you have a 1D. I do remember reading a review somewhere that said they weren't brilliant with long exposures, even when compared to the D60. That may be part of the problem.

Did you use any nd filters or?

I like the shot even with the bright lights! Not sure if I could wait 20mins for the shot though:lol:

This was shot at 100iso and I then used Noise Ninja to get rid of most of the noise, then sharpened it back up a bit. The only filter used was a UV filter on my 17-55 which I keep on it permanently. There was no need for a ND filter since it was 2AM, so completely pitch black.

I ended up straightening the horizon out, I'll post the updated pic in a few hours.

Thanks for the comments guys.
