These are abandoned, but definitely not forgotten. They are just as they were destroyed in WW2 by the retreating SS when they wiped out the village of Oradour-sur-Glane in June 1944.

It brings up the hairs on the back of my neck just looking back at the photos of our visit there in 2015.

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

A few people were helped to escape by a very few of the SS who just couldn't bring themselves to do some of it. The village is now a monument and a new village was built close by so that the old could be preserved as it happened.

This was the car of a doctor who had supposedly gone to the village just at the wrong time. He was killed along with the rest.

I have posted this before, so please excuse me for the repeat but I think that it's so very moving.

Off subject for a moment and still in Oradour. This was the girls school

I sometimes wonder how it ended up like that. Once it was somebody's pride and joy. Then it started breaking down, the engine blew a gasket..

Advice, C&C welcome

Well it is the Arizona desert. They could have parked it there that morning right off the show room floor... then the sun melted it :)

But yeah, I always wonder when it comes to abandoned stuff. Rarely get the story behind it though.

Gilligan's Island was a TV comedy show back in the 60's here in America.
