Found in a field tucked away through the woods that can only be accessed via the old rail trail in Claremont, NH.

where do i buy one of these?

You don't. This is a customized 1960's Oldsmobile Tornado. It was the first GM front wheel drive and it was very powerful....back then the Tornado used transverse mounted V8's of either 425 and 455 cubic inches.

The back version looks to have two Tornado trailing (non driven) axles with a modified, extended....'bedoored' (my word :)) station wagon body from the same era.

It reminds me of some of the airport limousines used back then...which were modified, extended station wagons ...sometimes with 6 to 8 doors (3 to 6 on each side)...but I've never seen one ...modified with an Tornado base...usually back then...something like..for example... a Chevy wagon would be used as a foundation.

Nice pix documenting this probably...one off..custom.

I'm pretty sure they were not transverse mounted, rather they were one of the cars that used the FWD/transaxle version of the turbo 400 trans with a longitudinal mounted engine.

Oh and between 52 and 150 of these "AQC Jetway 707 airport limos" were made by the American Quality Coach (AQC) company in Blytheville Arkansas between 68-70.

Road grader. This was the best shot possible without trespassing. 7D, 28-300L, ISO 100, f/11, 2 sec.

This is my first attempt at posting an image here. Please be kind.

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.
You're a ghost driving a meat-coated skeleton made from stardust, riding a rock, hurtling through space. Fear Nothing!

They are leaves. That was the least obstructed view.

Pretty accurate information on the engines & Toranado body work. Looks like a 1968? I'm betting the frame used to make this car was from a GMC Motorhome. They were all 26', used the Oldsmobile drive trains mentioned above, and had the two rear axles just to carry the weight. naturally they were front wheel drive.
Les, I take it you're a bit of an Oldmobile fan too? ;)

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Actually, the Toronado and Riviera did not use a transverse mounted engine, it was in the normal, water pump at front, cylinders on the side configuration like any other GM car of the time. It was front wheel drive, but the connection to the torque convertor was at the rear of the engine by the firewall. Here's a link to a pic - hopefully it works:

I think you're right about the GMC motorhome.

I'm an Oldsmobile fan and Buick fan. Have a newer Buick sedan now...Allure....Canadian name for the LaCrosse.

I remember my boss at the time (60's) always having new Oldsmobile...he had two Tornadoes one after the other...recall the barrel speedometer.
