I have a D60 and want to purchase a diagonal fisheye lens. I'm looking at
the Sigma 15mm f2.8 which purports to give a diagonal image across the film
plane. However, with the 1.6 multiplier of the D60, this lens would then be
24mm. Would this STILL give the advertised 180 degrees of coverage? I
can't seem to get a straight answer from other folks "in-the-know".
Thanks
Karen M.

Hi Karen,

I use that lens but not so much for the fisheye effect as for a very sharp, crisp lens. I haven't really tried panoramic shots like a skyline yet although I will, but for reasonably wide-angle shots, it's excellent. I just crop any curvature off. I have seen acceptable fisheye effects from a 15mm fisheye from Steve Mitchell over on the dpreview forum using a D30. He did a nice cathedral shot that I liked. And Phil Taylor on the Rob Gailbraith forum has also had some success with fisheyes and the D60.

Sorry I can't give you an exact report. I've just recovered from hand surgery and haven't been able to try out all my toys yet. But you might post on one or both of those fora to get a broader cross section of people's experiences.

HTH.

Gorham

Thanks Gorham,
I already have the new Sigma 15-30 WA zoom and I love it with the D60 for wide angle so I am looking specifically for the fisheye effect. I will check into the other forums you referenced.
Thanks again,
Karen
