I've been kind of delaying to purchase a light-stand and umbrella adaptor for the last couple of months (I have an umbrella already) after trying out the Strobist Kit From MPEX. I returned the Strobist Kit because the light stand was way too flimsy and light, so I'm looking for a solid light stand and umbrella adaptor, and this is what I came up with.

Light Stand: Avenger A125B (external link)
Umbrella Adaptor: Bogen/Manfrotto Lite Tite (external link)
Hot Shoe Adaptor (for my Cactus triggers): Hama Hot Shoe Adaptor (external link)

I'm just really wondering if the umbrella and light stand will work together? Any other suggestions and opinions are also appreciated! Thanks

That particular hotshoe adapter does not have a tripod screw hole (1/4" -20) on the bottom.

So you will have no way to connect it to the umbrella adapter you cite.

Enjoy! Lon

Whoa, completely overlooked that, so I think I'm going to go with this (external link) instead.

Edit: Whoa, I didn't know FlashZebra was your website, about to order, thanks for the great and easy to find products. I was just looking for some positive feedback on your site, and you seem to be pretty reliable. Thanks again!

How about the umbrella Adapter there? I like to get one, but not sure if it is close to bogen ones, especially for the umbrella connections. Also whether the hotshoe adapter can handle a EX 580 II well?:)

I'm a big fan of the Bogen / Manfrotto 2905 (external link) your first post mentioned and own several. You'll also need an accessory Shoe with a 1/4"-20 bottom thread like this one (external link).

You can also get the 15$ Impact umbrella stand. Just make sure to not use it upside down like I have been.

Thanks for the replies everyone I put in my order and Henry thanks for the reassurance on the Umbrella Adapter. Galaxy, I tried out the Impact Umbrella adapter before and I wasn't really fond of the design and it was a bit flimsy and as SlimNinj4 posted make sure you don't use it upside down (that was sort of my problem too). If you do go w/ the Bogen/Manfrotto 2905 rather then buying an accessory to get the adapter to fit you can just pick up one of these (external link).

I can't wait till everything comes in, Ive been wanting to order this stuff for about 7 months and never got around to it. (Lazy during the summer and busy during school lol)..
