I took mine off today to remind myself what it was like without it. It's kind of naked, I got used to the weight and the feel of the grip. It's also helpful since I used to overhand shoot portraits, now I don't have to cock that wrist anymore :)

I just put the Canon BG-E3 on the camera a week ago... wow... wishing I would have done it from the get go.

I was getting tired of swapping batteries... no other reason to throw it on... and bingo... incredible difference now that there are two in the camera at all times. Then... found the little shutter release on the grip, the exposure lock... wow... again... soo nice to be able to flip the camera up and use the grip controls instead of reaching around all the time.

I'm still not completely comfortable with the extra size of the grip as i've gotten kind of used to the camera without it... but the more and more I use it... i'm getting into that comfort zone.

Jeez... why didn't I put one on from the beginning??? :)

I use my grip nearly every time i take the camera! - i have taken it off when needing to travel really light and found it really hard to use!

Nope, grip free is the way to be!

I like my 30D without grip, works for me.

I prefer to buy other things for my set up just now - i'd kinda like a grip, but to be honest with a big lens on board, my 20d is already big enough. And i don't need to have 2 batteries on board - they only take a moment to change out.

On my 350D

i use a grip on my 350D because of the diminuative size of this camera body. I don't use grips on either my 10D or 30D because they are larger in size.

20D gripped with 70-200mm f/4L most of the time :)
done because of the restoration of weight distribution on the body and also the amount of time I shoot portrait

5D - No but would be happier using it gripped.

I have a 400D and find it too small for my liking.
I am interested to see who has a battery grip for their body.

Please post whether you use the grip all the time or occasionally.

Without the grip it feel like half the cameras missing.

There are a few factors to bear in mind such as balancing a larger lens, having the extra shutter buttons etc and also the fact that bigger lenses have bigger motors and use more power so the extra battery is very useful.

Best of all it makes your camera look like a 1D

Got the grip for the 5D and hated it. Not in principle of functioning, but practically in awkwardness.

The 400D was fantastic gripped but the 5D just feels slightly too big with it attached. I do not hate it in any sense just yet, I find it useful so far but still early days, will keep going with it and see how it goes.

I love my grip on my 40D. I just bought my first SLR and wanted the 2nd battery and vertical shooting capability, and I have not been disappointed. The size is ok, but that was not the reason why I bought it.
