The 400D was fantastic gripped but the 5D just feels slightly too big with it attached. I do not hate it in any sense just yet, I find it useful so far but still early days, will keep going with it and see how it goes.

Agreed. My brother has a gripped Xti (400D) and I think that grip feels great! Like a mini, lighter 1D. But all the other X0D series bodies including the 5D just seem clunky.

I am slowly getting used to it. My hands were too big for a ungripped 400D but smaller than a gripped 5D. I guess its a hate it or love it thing. Will give it a good test run on Sunday and feedback my opinions.

I've got a grip on the 350d, but it has recently developed problems so I too it off. I need to order a new one, but haven't done it yet. Camera feels so small now.

I'm like Jon... I've been putting grips on my cameras since the days of 35mm. It's usually the first accessory I buy for a new body when I get one.

The demand seems to be for smaller and smaller cameras (look at the size of P&S cameras now) but our hands aren't getting any smaller.

You must be quoting a different Jon. :{)#

If I could remove the grip from the 1D3, I would, even at the cost of a lower top frame rate, like with the 1V or Nikon's D300. Note the past tense on the 20D grip.

Had one for the 20D. I used them on my film cameras since they added functionality there (auto-wind rather than manual), but it's really not necessary on my digitals.

I have a grip. It is kind of big and I have taken it off cause I wanted it to be smaller. But as soon as I tried shooting vertical, I got frustrated and my wrist got cranky so I put it back on. I think I'll leave it on.

I'll ultimately end up with one for my 40D. However, I hate how ugly the shape of the grip is. It's really skinny at the top where it meets the bottom of the camera, then tapers (way) out to fit the battery. I also don't like that the grip surface is smooth instead of having the rubberized material on it.

I wish it looked like the grip on a 1D- rounded at the bottom.

Is it just me? :)

I want to get one so the camera is easier to hold whilst taking pictures(portrait style) as it will make my 40D easier to hold, I see they arenow coming down in price....

5D and 20D are both gripped. I just got the 5D last week and had to wait a few days for the grip, it was horrible. I can't imagine not getting a grip, it is so much easier to use either camera with my 70-200 with a grip. The few days that I didn't have a grip on my 5D made me wanna cry, but not enough to stop me from takin pics :) I love the grip and handstrap combo!!!

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Nope, I agree 100%. I an a part-time grip user, but I really wish Canon could put a little more thought into these things.

I have never tried a grip on my 5D, but then I find it heavy enough as it is, but I might try one in the future, who knows.

From what ive seen it really all depends on the actual camera as to how good or bad the grip looks on it.

The 40D with grip does look pretty hideous, they really have messed up the flowing lines of the camera, the same can be said for the 350/400D with grips.

I dont have a grip on my 5D yet but from google images it seems they have got that one right, it looks like its part of the camera, why on earth they cant get it right on 350/400/450D & 20/30/40D bodies is very strange.
