Putting together a collage poster for a girl who scored her 1000th point last night. (It's a big deal....hasn't been done since 2001) What do you think? The top inset is her team, below that is her and her dad/coach, next is her holding the banner that now reads her name, then the group shot of everyone who came out to see her reach 1000, below that is her holding signs her friends made her.

What would you change?

Oh I forgot to mention the background image is her making her 1000th point.

It seems too busy to me. I would describe the picture as having A.D.D.
I'm not trying to insult you but there doesn't seem to be an order to it.
It looks as if the BG pic(1000th) should be part of the collage instead of the BG.
OR
The other pictures should be so prominent. Just My ammatuer opinion.

No insult taken! Layouts like this are completely not my thing, as we can all tell. :)

It's only been 2 hours since the original post, and I can't even see it?

Your poster design reminds me of a collage picture frame. If this is what you have in mind in terms of presentation, perhaps you should use a collage picture frame.

I've been trying to figure out how to use those same shots and not make it so crowded.
I think maybe you should forget the square and circular shapes and maybe just extract the people in the photo.
See the Sports Photoshop thread in here. Those types of colages usually seem more appealing to my eye. If it's done properly there can be a LOT of images but still have some kind of flow to it.

Try picking a focal point, and building your poster around that. Right now my eyes have a hard time landing in one spot on the poster. Hope this helps

To me there is too much detail in the background image. The building itself is taking up too much of the frame. A little creative blurring and possible desaturation of the background perhaps. The inset shadows also seem a little large/dark.

Good Luck!

Tim

Agreed. My eyes want to look all over the BG image but it is not sharp(I assume done like that in PP) and I don't really even look at the other shots.
