2. It folds flat.
Any chance of posting a pic with the bracket setup in portrait mode? Mike, The Keeper of the Archive

I have a pic of it in landscape and then right beside it going into portrait...but not full portrait. It at least gives you an idea of what the flip action looks like.
And while I'm at it, here's the quick release module you can get from Newton (optional) that I highly recommend, because it's better to tug on solid metal than a plastic/metal foot.

That does help. Thanks! Mike, The Keeper of the Archive

I just have one more issue which I have emailed newton about... I am married to the Bogen RC4 quick release system and while Newton offers an RC2 solution I wanted to know from them if I could use the Bogen 394 with the Newton to keep my quick release convenience. Heres a pic: In the past whenever I have tried to make a flash bracket "Bogen RC4 compliant" I only failed as it sets everything off center from the flash and thats not what I want. Hopefully there is some way to do what Newton did with the RC2 and their brackets with the RC4 system. We'll see. If there is Ill order one right now and sell the Stroboframe Pro-RL! There is a minor F-R offset. You need to give me OK to edit your image and repost! Keep POTN alive and well with member support https://photography-on-the.net/forum/donate.php

I am assuming that the adaptor Newton designed to work the the RC2 system is offset to compensate for the quick release system... Why oh why does everyone leave out the RC4 system??? And then some idiot would try to use the extra long screw with only the baseplate or only the Newton, punch out the bottom of the camera tripod socket, and sue somebody for their stupidity! When I got my FR2, Robert had only adapted it to the Arca QR. He made the first (I believe) for me....
You can see that it can be adjusted to center the camera on the flash (just as the regular Newton QR can) The RC2 QR plate at the bottom of both these images is so I can snap the bracket on to a tripod (which, of course, uses the RC2) I cannot say if the RC4 can be adapted in a similar (#2) as the RC2, but if anyone can, Robert can. You can also easily adapt the Newton CRs to use the RC2...or most any QR. Here is a shot of my CR with the CR2....
The un-anodized (silver) bracket was made, for me, by Robert so the camera would sit a little lower than it would with the standard piece...I have, actually, since gone back to the standard piece. The large, knurld, silver knod (his part # 5-105) replaced the bolt which the bracket came with and allows me to break it down for easier storage in my bag...
