I'm looking at the Canon Speedlite 380EX. I know the 430EX and the 580EX will work with digital will the 380EX? I'm guessing it's the EZ version thats going to be manual and the EX can be automatic? Please tell me if I'm wrong as I don't know much about flashes.

The 380EX will work fine on a DSLR in ETTL mode. You can use FEC by going to the camera menus. Lack of manual controls and off-camera capability is limiting so if you can afford a 430EX or better, go for it.
