Not sure whats going on with my 10D but today I was givin my 1st Err 99 code. :( I was shooting with a Sigma 18-125 lens and using the P mode. I was not shooting everything stationary and I'm not sure of the exact settings at the time but what it sounded like was the shutter release then never reset

I did not notice if it did this on my older L lens or not. Should I just clean the contact on the lens and camera, if so what do I use?

Thanks

It's just a firmware/software error. Do you tear down and clean your PC every time Windows crashes?

Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening frequently. Err 99 is listed as a non-specific error code, so is probably just some odd state the firmware was in at the time and got confused.

Luckily for us these cameras boot up faster than windows or we'd all be missing a ton of great shots.

I experienced an Err99 message with a Sigma 28-300 on a 10D. I called Sigma, they were aware of the problem and had me bring the camera in for a new chip( free ). Works fine now.
Hope this helps.

Error 99

I have three Sigma Lenses and my 70 to 300 worked at first but got the error 99 which means not compatable with your Camera.

You can send it back to Sigma and have it updated.

MKII N-Canon 20D - Tamron 90MM F2.8 Macro -
Tamron 17-35 F 2.8-4 - Canon 70-200 F4 L

Ok but this lens is a new design and is built to work on Digi cams. It was just put out in June

Well according to the book, you can remove the battery and put it back in. Its a catch all error. My 28 to 105 works all right with it, so far but my other have problems.

Sigma lens

I just sent my Sigma lens back for the same error. Mine was caused by an aperture hanging up.

Since then I sent my sigma lense back and they rechipped two of the three and they work fine after I did the 1.0.5 firmware update.
