No track action for the A1 GP cars on Thursdays, so a few boring detail shots.....

1. The Cooper tyres stacked up waiting to be allocated to the teams. (I think the tyres are actually manufactured by Michelin - anyone know if this is indeed the case?)

2. The Team Ireland car up on the setup blocks.

3. The Team USA and Team Germany cars awaiting scrutineering. One of the pace/safety cars is in the background. (badly framed - yeah I know)

4. With the sun setting, it was time for some artsy-fartsy stuff with the pace car.

5. The Swiss team drilling through pitstop practice. They were at it for a good 45 mins. Many of the other teams also put their crews through their paces.

6. Team Netherlands car up on the jacks.

Track time begins tomorrow for the A1 cars.

The impossible has begun - another step closer - and I am very hungry for it.

Really nice set of background photos. I am looking forward to the race photos. I like the guy in 5 sitting on the spare wheel having a coffee that put a smile on my face.

The wife says I never listen or something like that.

I like the lines in #1, in #2 i think you should have taken the shot a bit more to the left or have the man move out of your picture :)
I like the angle in #4 and the motion in #5.

Thanks, glad to have made you smile. It does make for an interesting mix of hectic and um, not so hectic.

Placing some up soon - although I am not your traditional front 3/4 shot kind of guy. That bores me silly.

Not so much myself, but some of the 'crew' I was with did. I am sure you'll see some of it turn up on here at some stage. Yes there was a lot of bash and crash all weekend. Seems many young drivers out there were keen to make an impression. Some made the wrong one.

Thanks, I find the pits a far more interesting place to shoot. I suggest that if you want to see some more cracking pit shots, visit www.motorsportmedia.co.nz (external link) and have a look at the A1GP race meeting (can be found under the 'race meetings' link on the left hand side)

Yep, there was a few of them there. Got just as many shots taken of it as any of the A1GP cars did.

Yeah, it's funny the guys (on practice day at least) are really polite and often hold their work up for you to get the shot. I feel guilty when they apologise for getting in the shot. Kind of bizarre to be treated so nicely by the crews.

Yep, hehe, but it is what it is.

I'm not sure, but I think he was a gearbox/engine dude or something. A lot of the team were just drilling one or two wheels at a time. Several times I heard mechanics during pitstop practices ask to do some more. These guys are perfectionists.

I leave the boring stuff to you guys :P

More effort required, but we made a hell of a start - and turned more than a few heads. I'm with you on how the weekend went. It was certainly a pleasure and a crap load of fun too. I'm still buzzing....

Cliff

I -really- like the sense of movement you've captured with the pit team shot - perfect.
