I knew that patent before
and used it to do 'panoramic landscapes' shots when forgotten about tripod
Never tried to use it as IS :P as my lens has only one mode for IS, it could do well during sport shoots
Cheers,
Rob

Don't recall why. Maybe it's sturdier. I should do this tomorrow. String stretches. Fishing line or spectra kite string would be a great low-stretch alternative. A chain is kinda... bulky. It doesn't matter much if the cord stretches. All you're trying to do is create a dynamic tension. It definitely helps, but it certainly isn't a replacement for a tripod. Six feet of cord with an eyebolt and a couple of nuts doesn't take up much room in the bag, either. It's worth trying to see if it fits your style. Gerry Kaslowski

I may even make two versions...one for standing and one for kneeling on one knee. The chain was probably suggested because a string may break with too much tension. would it be easier to make the standing version, then place another weight/washer in the middle of the string (at the length of your kneeling height of course). That way you could still have 1 "image stabilizer" to carry with you.

I might add something like that to my bag for when I just don't have room for a tripod but might want to push some slow shutter speed limits. Gear Listhttp://www.codastudios.com.au
