Yes, every 15 minutes somebody else discovers the original link, posts a new thread, and I have to go out and merge it into this one so we don't drown in string and eyebolts.

Sorry hadnt seen this thread when I posted.... It is a viral video

What about the question of using it with a lens which has IS on it? Would it allow for an even longer exposure or would it cause a problem (I understad that some IS systems can become upset if on a tripod).

all the best
Mark

Probably depends on the lens. If you could truly get a stable platform using this (which I doubt), some lenses could handle it differently than others. If you've still got movement, even greatly reduced, you might be helping the IS a bit.

For $1, you could always give it a shot.

I think that this $1 tripod idea thread is soon going to surpass the ol door to door photographers joke for being the most repeated fairly soon.

I had the same thought yesterday. And I know how much Jon loves them both!:lol::lol:

I suspect a little sarcasm. Maybe because of this thread with an identical subject:

. . .

Now, if it was Mrs. Jones' baby photographer using this with his Canon. . . ;)

$1 Panning Stabilizer

I don`t know whether it has been posted before, but this idea sounds awesome.

Not to me. I can only imagine shooting a wedding with that crap. That looks ghetto.
