hey guys,

with the cactus v2 triggers and my impact umbrella kit, when i add the receiver to the cold shoe then the flash on top, it brings my flash really far from the center of the umbrella.

i believe there is a hotshoe mount with a PC sync port i can connect?

so ultimately i would like to have the umbrella stand coldshoe + hotshoe adapter + flash... then have the cactus reciever on a pc sync cord

is this do-able? what are the parts called exactly, i cant seem to find them.

thanks

eric

I think any one of those would work. What I do to correct the above problem is to;
1. Take the cold shoe away and screw the light stand adapter (spigots or whatever they're called) directly on to the Cactus unit.

2. Tilt the cactus unit 45 degrees forward and tilt the flash accordingly.

3. Flip in the wide panel.

Works well for me.

thanks for that info, buut although the cactus reciever is pretty strong, it still feels kinda wobbly when a 580 / 430 is sitting on top of it :(

Not if you take the cold shoe out of the equation. The stud can be screwed on to the L-bracket of the cactus like it's soldered on to it. I guess the weak part would be the small plastic brackets that holds the screw on the inside of the receiver but once it's tightened the whole unit shares the pressure. So I guess the critical point is while you are tightening it.

I hear you though, I'm trying to persuade you into putting your trust in in Chinese plastic! But for what it's worth I've never heard of anyone having their unit break up on them... =)

Ive had two break. But it was from dropping them :( They broke right at the screw
Never under estimate wind, even if you are not using a umbrella.

and also ive never been able to hook it up via synch cord before with my sunpak 383, doesnt seem to work?

Get a FLASH hotshoe adapter with a short cord that ends in male PC connector. Source one with a 1/4"-20 tripod screw hole in the bottom.

Attach this hotshoe adapter directly to one of the brass inserts (spigots) that come with the impact stand (no need to double shoe the flash).

Hang the V2 beside the light stand and connect the male PC connector to the PC port on the V2.

Be careful with the sync port on the V2, they have a record for spinning and breaking the solder joints on the internal connecting wires.

Enjoy! Lon
