I have a 24mm TS-E and it's silent aside from hushed sliding noises and the clunk when it recenters.

On the other hand I just got the 90mm TS-E and it makes what sounds like a creaking noise when tilting it. It's not particularly loud, it sounds somewhat like a relaxing spring (think like a quiet version of that noise some reclining chairs make).

If I can come up with other similar sounds to describe it, perhaps I'll share them since I can't think of the words to describe this adequately. My question is does anyone else have this lens (or another TS-E) with the same behavior? I can get it swapped out if it's a problem, but I'm not sure yet whether it is. Something in the lens could just be cold from the UPS truck still too and it hasn't reached equilibrium yet (although I don't recall my 24 doing that after shooting in sub-20 degree F weather).

I'd probably err on the side of caution and get it swapped out if it was mine - none of my lenses make creaking noises and I'd have to wonder what was going on if they started.

I haven't seen any reports of the TS-E lenses creaking in reviews.

Believe it or not, I've actually seen that spring noise spelled as:

Ging-Ging-Ging-Ging-Ging... With the pitch of the voice rising on each "Ging."

Soung about right?

I can't think of the letters to use Flying, but it doesn't increase in pitch.

I think I may just go ahead and have it replaced for peace of mind. At $1100 it might as well be silent like my 24mm.
