I just picked up this lens from B&H for a great price (under $1630) and was wondering if the price includes the rebate? Anyway, the lens is fantastic in all areas. Since I'm new to this lens, I have a few questions to ask other experts.:D

1. What is the BEST UV filter for this lens?

2. Auto focus is louder than the auto focus from my Canon 24mm-70mm f/2.8.
Is this normal? I'm not sure because the 24mm-70mm auto focus is silent
compared to the 85mm. The 85mm auto focus is the loudest out of all my L
series lenses, so this is a concern because I don't know if the lens was
damaged during delivery.:(

3. Are there any other 85mm lens accessories I should consider?;)

I picked it up from B&H. I'll send some pics within the next couple days as I experiment with this new glass. I'm still concerned about the auto focus noise level compared to the 24mm-70mm. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest a Heliopan SH-PMC UV. The best filter you can get.

As for AF noise, I don't even notice mine... Loud?

Thanks double negative! I'll look into your filter suggestion. As for the 85mm AF noise, it's very minor as the USM motor(s) are active. The 24mm-70mm AF is silent compared to the 85mm, so this peaked my concerns to know why. That's all!

Scot079, I guess I bought the last lens you recommended. Sorry! I promise to post some pics soon.

My AF sort of rumbles into place. I press the button....rumble rumble.

The AF on the 85L is different from every other ring USM I've experienced. I think it has something to do with the large mass that is moving.

Cool! I guess the light rumble is normal for this lens. Other than the minor USM rumble, this lens is great for my needs.

I also got mine over the weekend.

It's a pleasure to use I think. I shot an engagement the day after it arrived and it was brilliant.

AF is slow, but not as slow as I was fearing. Very much useable.

The motor kind of reminds me of the 50 1.8 sound on mine so if that's what it sounds like...
