I just received my 40D back from Canon Service (NJ) They had the camera for 30 days! Each week they would tell me another deadline or excuse, including that they needed a special tool to repair it. They could not explain to me how they were able to produce a camera but did not have tools to repair it. I really feel that they were just pushing it aside and taking care of others. Finally I called Canon USA corporate offices and got customer care. The people there are great. Two days after speaking to them, I have my camera back. The camera was less than 60 days old and they had to replace the shutter and mirror box. It's working like it should but on Monday I need to call them back about the scratch on the LCD. I don't dare send it back to them until my slow season.
Let this be a lesson as to why you should never shoot major,life events without a second body. Fortunetly I have one .
