My fiancee often gives me that "You're not bringing that camera, are you?" look...

Does that count?

I went to a Tenacious D concert at George Mason University. That group specifically allows photography at their concerts - as well as audio recording. So I show up with my XT and I get denied at the entrance. I said to the guards that the group allows photography. They said yeah, but not with a pro camera. Whatever. I was pissed and the whole time people are snapping photos. I hate when guards decide to make their own rules.

The strangest one for me happened just a couple weeks ago. I was at a local Outdoor flea market. I take my camera incase I see something old/odd that I want to snap a shot of.
As my wife was looking through some jewelry, I snapped a pic of a bunch of like colored costume jewelry in a glass box.

A woman told me the owner of that stuff didn't want pictures taken of her stuff. Well, there were no signs anywhere about taking pictures. Its in public more or less, so I got a bit snippy with her. Told her I am not breaking laws, etc.

Nothing really happened at all. And the pic I took got deleted after I got home anyway. But I just trip on how weird some people are about photogs. sometimes.

So if you had a large print hanging in a gallery somewhere, you wouldn't care if other people just walked up and took photos of it?

JMO, but you might want to rethink the concept of respecting another artists intellectual property rights.

Yeah, it's only polite to buy the jewelry first, then set up a soft box and take the pictures properly at home.

I was doing a sort of scavenger hunt through a shopping mall, and one of the requirements was to document the various stops that we made. Because of the devious nature of the girls who set up the scavenger hunt, my friend and I had to make a stop at Victoria Secret.

I was smart enough to not whip out the camera inside the store, so I had my friend pose next to the Spring Sale sign just outside the entrance of the store instead. Even still, an employee inside the store spotted me and told me that I wasn't allowed to take pictures. I said that I wasn't even in the store, and I thought it was fairly clear that I was just taking a picture of my friend and the sign, but I didn't want to cause any trouble.

I was in England recently and I was stopped and questioned, but after getting a warning he let me proceed to shoot.

The only time so far I was ever asked to put my camera away was completely my fault. I was with my wife shopping in Chicago. We stopped into one of the malls on the Mile and I saw a display of colored "soaps" that I thought would make a good picture. Snapped off a few than was told by the staff that no pictures were allowed in the store. In hindsight, I should've been more smart since it is a place of business and they have the right.

He stopped me and asked if I was shooting for a publication. I was shooting with my 5D+17-40 throughout the trip, but I happen to take out my 1D+70-200 to shoot (<-take photo of) a guard. I guess having two bodies on me was a little over kill ;).

A lady from my tour took the shot of me with my 5D..

I went to a friend's wedding once and they had a pro photog as party of their wedding reception package. He saw my camera and told me I wasn't allowed to take photos at the wedding, but my sister had a small compact point and shoot and so did other people and not a word was said to them !

My 9 year old tells me to get rid of my camera every time I point it at him.

School swimming carnival, same thing, other mums with their crappy point and shoots were ok, but my 30D was a no go !

So I bought an Canon Ixus with underwater housing, I take it to school events now!

I never understood this....people can use their P&S,but as soon as a SLR pops out....watch out! Why is that?
