My Canon Pwershot S400 was exposed to moisture while in a waterproof case when scuba diving. It froze it the open position and won't power on....after letting it sit for a while and recharging battery several times.

Does anyone have suggestions...(I am not advserse to opening it up and checking) just looking for ideas once I get in.

Thanks in advance, Bernie

Does "exposed to moisture" mean "full of salt water"?

Even a little water leaking into the case can do a lot of damage. If it was salt water, still more. If you left the battery in while it dried and/or tried turning it on while it was still wet, consider it dead. Sorry.

Np, salt water did not pour in.....it was condensation. I am guessing the curcuit board fried.

Thanks for the help.

is it still under warranty with canon?...i know the warranty with canon is typically voided if there's evidence of water getting in there...my small camera (a430) got messed up from taking it to the snow, however i sent it in anyways...and they fixed it and returned it within a week...might be worth a shot

I haven't been inside an S400 but did try an SD500 that was "dead". There was very little I could see that could be "repaired" other than possibly some mechanical problem. Electronics are so dense it's nearly impossible to do anything but replace. If the camera got jarred and a connector popped loose, maybe, but if condensation or saltwater caused something to fail electronically, I'd say it would be more cost effective to replace it. S400 was a nice camera though...sorry.
