Capture of a Lifetime

What one capture has touched you the most. One that after you shot the picture caused you to pause, or left you in awe?

Mine was the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C., the vast amount of names will move you. Capturing the name you know not only moves you it brings you to tears.

I will remember it always.

The most powerful images I've taken so far were at Auschwitz/Birkenau. Here's just one of them.

Well the wall is a hard one to beat.
This is one that set me on edge but you had to be there. It was back when I first started into photography but at that point it was getting a picture plain and simple.
We sat on the beach at Lake Erie with a whole group of people that had pull off the road and walked to the beach to see the sun set. It was so quiet and serine that not one person said a word. After it was over everyone just stood and walked away still without a word. I snaped a few shots and when I look at this I still sit in amazement.
You had to be there , a feeling I will never forget.

I don't have access to mine for posting. I took in 2002 while in Afghanistan. I was sitting in my fighting hole and the sun was coming up. I wanted to capture the sunrise so I grabbed my camera and took the shot just as a C-17 cargo jet was taking off. The plane is almost black against the sunrise. I wasn't able to get the film developed for about four months, but when I did I was blow away. I didn't think I could take a shot like that. Never did before, and haven't since.

Cool, wish I could see that image. I was in Bahrain in with the Air Force refueling aircraft that was supporting you guys.

Thanks greg, I would love to post it but my scanner crapped out. I'll take it too work with me and see if I can get it to work.

I managed to surprise myself with this capture. With the 5D and 100-400, a combination that doesn't have the fastest AF by any standard.

It's slightly flawed (the rear of the bird is in better focus than the front), but it's given me hope for the future.

Photo was taken 15 years ago on my film Rebel when I took a pilgrimage to D.C. with my sister to check it out. It's not always about the photo, it's about the indelible impression the photo left with you as this one did. I may not have the picture in front of me to remember but the image is burned into my head forever.

I do have the photo tucked away safely with 1000's of other unmemorable photo's. It is just photo of a finger pointing to a name on the massive list. My uncle, my fathers only other sibling who died 2 weeks before I was born in 1967.
