Hi everyone. I am finally entering the world of digital SLRs and have been waiting to purchase the EOS 10D. Now that I finally have the funds I recently discovered the release of the EOS 20D with all of its glorious improvements. I've searched for several days now and the cheapest price I can find for the kit with the EF-S 18-55 lens is $1439.95 at www.bestdigitaldeals.com (external link). Does anyone have a cheaper source. I am doubtful since it was just released but it can't hurt to ask. I'm trying to save as much as I can for accessories, which I am sure you all can understand. Thanks for any help you can offer! Regards.

Hi,

welcome to the forum!!! :)

I don't have a cheaper source, but be sure to check out www.resellerratings.com (external link) before ordering anything!

It also very clearly shows that www.bestdigitaldeals is a place to avoid at all costs (pun intended)

Look at http://www.resellerratings.com/seller7936.html (external link) . It only has 3 ratings, but all of those 3 prove that it is a classical 'bait and switch' operation.
Another trick used often is to quote a ridiculously low price for the camera (say, 200$ below the normal price), but then charge you more than this difference for the standard accessories (charger, battery, cables) that are normally included with the camera.

To learn a bit about the so-called 'New York camera scam artists', also check out a&m photoworld ( http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1988.html (external link) ) at resellerratings and read some of the user testimonials to familiarize yourself with the more classic scam schemes...

The truism here is 'If it sounds too good to be true, than it most likely is...'

Best regards,
Andy

As a frame of reference, B&H (www.bhphotovideo.com (external link)), who is a very reputable vendor with reasonable prices is selling that kit for $1599.

Thanks for the tips. I found a place in Texas that has the kit for $1499.00. I spoke with the owner and his shop is a Canon USA authorized dealer. He is able to sell it for about $100.00 less because of the demand he has right now. Here is the link if anyone is interested.

He said his Canon rep told him to tell his cutomers about 2 weeks for shipping due to demand, but the rep also said it would probably be less than that.

Thanks again for the current and future responses to this!

Jeff
