Got $45,600 burning a hole in your pocket? Try out Seitz Phototechnik's 160-megapixel 6x17 Digital camera (external link). And save a bit more of your allowance for a lens, too.
The mammoth device is able to take an image measuring 60x170mm, a big notch up from high-end SLRs with a 24x36mm frame. It's got huge handgrips on either side that cry out to be grasped, but it's 18 inches wide and weighs 10 pounds, so it looks either like a great workout or tripod material to me.

Just spitballin' but howzabout panoramic landscapes without having to stitch together a bunch of frames..?

1 second exposure time. Might get a bit of motion blur trying to hand-hold that thing. I don't think my house is big enough for a monitor and PC to process the files from that thing!

It would produce stunning landscape shots. I'd love to play with one

It's not a single exposure. Essentially, it uses a CCD (and no shutter) and turns on part of the sensor (or maybe the sensor physically moves?) for a short amount of time. The individual exposure time for any one pixel can be as high as 1/8000, but the overall time to capture an entire image is a second. The problem is of course that depending on how much of the image is exposed at once, it would produce very wonky (but not blurred) images if handheld.

That is so cool, I remember playing with a wide format film camera once in a store and it was super cool, the idea of one of these things with a digital back must make wallets around the world cower in fear.

Yeah, the way it is described is that it is basically a high resolution scanner built into a digital back. Not really blur, but would look terrible, like moving the photo on the scanner bed while it is scanning.
