I have a very strange problem with my A570IS and appreciate if anyone could help me with this issue.
Sometimes after I shoot, the LCD goes blank (camera is still on), and if I press the shutter it records blank. This happens almost always the LCD and flash are both on, and less often when not using flash.
First, I thought it might be because of normal AA batteries. But now I use Sanyo Eneloop, no difference or even worse! :(

A lot of people are complaining about battery life issues on the A570. Mostly though it's that the LOW BATTERY indicaor comes on, not camera malfunctions. Some think it's connector problems in the battery compartment. You might make sure you have enouh tension to keep the batteries in contact with eachother, the door and the spring congtact.

When this happens is the rest of the camera functional? Before snapping a picture can you zoom the lens to make sure you have battery power? If you switch the lcd display off can you view through the viewfinder and snap a picture without getting the blank record? The fact it usually happens when both flash and lcd are on does make one wonder about the power, but maybe you always shoot with the LCD on.

Thanks for your reply and attention. I think it should be related to power, but my problem is completely different than others with low-battery indicator (I never received that). I tested it again carefully, and here is what is going on:
As long as I shoot with LCD off, there is no problem.
After the first shot with LCD on, and using flash,
- The LCD shows blank (it is like I am looking at a completely black scene)
- icons are still on the LCD (So LCD is not dead)
- I can zoom in/out
- even when I zoom in using digital zoom, the noises become to show on the screen!!! (but it is still like I'm looking at a black scene)
- If I press the shutter to focus, the yellow led begins to blink. And shooting result to blank picture.
- If I press the LCD button and turn it off (and then turn it on), then the camera works OK again.
- If I go to play mode, and come back the camera becomes OK also.

is the shutter sticking closed?...this happened on my S2IS...i didn't realize it until someone mentioned it here...but if you look at the camera before you take the first shot...you can see in the center that it's open...look again after taking the shot and see if it's closed

Yes, that seems to be my problem. The shutter get stuck. I can not clearly see that. But after going blank, with any change in manual setting like shutter speed, no change can be seen through the lens, however I can see it changing when it is in normal condition. So, how did you solve that?

so wait...does this only happen to you in manual mode?

if it is the shutter, it would happen in every mode...unfortunately...i never fixed it...however...as long as my camera doesn't sit too long it ends up being o.k, sometimes i have to turn it off after taking a shot....i typically run it through a burst mode, to try and keep it from sticking ..and that has been working for me...but if you're still under the warranty i'd send it in to canon to fix it

Yes it happens always. I just switched to manual to see lens changes. I've just bought it last month. I really didn't expect such defect in Canon products. Thanks for helping me to understand the problem. Now I can explain what is probably happening to the repair service.
