Location, Conditions, Tools.

Ever had one of those days when you had everything but (pick one of the three above, insert here). For me I was missing the tools. Darn

All I had was my IPhone, I was 15 minutes from my 5D. I could not believe I was going to miss this shot. I could cry. It would have been stunning.

PS. This is Waikiki beach.

Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation?

I know the feeling. We get nice sunsets here too, and I'm always running back down the garden to get my camera!

They change so quickly that sometimes you only get a few seconds of that ideal shot.

This is why I posted. You get to the location with your camera and the conditions are screwed. You get the conditions and camera and the location is not right. Then the two things you do not have control of are great. Location and Condition. Then the one thing I have control of is screwed.

I think its time for a pocket camera. Darn.

Yes, definitely a good idea to have a small camera that you can take everywhere with you.

I looked into this option in great depth a little while ago and the Canon Powershot A710 IS came top of the list. I'm not sure if they have updated it since, but I expect the update would be equally good.

I think any canon P&S would be best. But I do like the idea of a Casio with its MP4 video.

Sure but this was in Waikiki, I'm back from vacation and I don't know if I'm going to get this chance again. I sit on the bay side here in the SF bay area. Therefore the beach is 30 miles away.

It's unfortunate that you didn't have your camera for this sunset but look to the future for more gorgeous sunsets and not in the rear view mirror

Make that 30 mile drive to the beach

Happens to me all the time...need to start taking the Power shot with me....
