Is there a plug in or patch to open RAW images from a Mark III in CS2?

Thanks as always

I do not think the RAW update Adobe released can be made to work with CS2.

You can however use the standalone to convert the files to .DNG at which point CS2 will be able to open them.

Adobe offers a standalone version of DNG convertor (external link) that can read the CR file and convert it to a DNG.

Update to CS3.

Sucks? Not really. If a big rock fell out of the sky and landed on Adobe say 5-10 years ago, where do you think digital photography would be today?

Full frame and some primes.

Or buy Lightroom and right click on the image and open it in photoshop. CS2 can open the tif file of course.

You don't have Lightroom?

Adobe dosent suck but sometimes I dont like their support ethics. Iv been using photoshop sense version 7. Then you had to pay $100 for the ACR plug in, then a couple months later comes CS with no support for the older ACR so theres another $150 for an upgrade. And the cycle continues, just for a file format, what the hell I dont think its right. They should update the ACR plug in regardless of the version of PS you have.

Well, I suppose you can petition the camera manufacturers not to modify their file formats for each camera model. I don't see why people blame Adobe for a problem mostly created by the camera manufacturers. You cannot reasonably expect existing software to support camera models that will be released in the future unless the file formats are standardized.

Its rather odd to me that people would spend lots of money on the latest camera gear but then balk at paying less than $200 to upgrade Photoshop. Of course you can always used the software supplied by the camera manufacturer too.

I agree with you but there have been cases where the fileformat has not changed. The only difference is the model name and thus ACR could very quickly be updated to support the new model with very minor change.

A lot of people do upgrade their camera bodies when a new is released. And the same with lenses. A lot of people upgrade when a MK II or III or IV is released.

Its a bit more complicated than just making "minor changes" ... see this comment from Jeff Schewe:

That thread is about making ACR4 available for CS2.

I meant that in some cases ACR3 required only a simple update with model name to support a new camera. That can't be that difficult to do.
