Last month I bought a used 30D (thanks, Permie) and a new 18-55 IS lens. Results have been excellent.

But I was unsure of the size and accuracy of the autofocus spot, so I took a shot out of my window:

This is a pretty tricky job for the autofocus. I focused on the squirrel's tail. Here's a 100% crop:

I'd say the 30D's autofocus is pretty good!

No one said the 30d is bad in focusing. People who bough the 40d thought that the 40d is better. That's all.
