is it a stately home?

Not sure I would have called it a stately home???

Pete wrote in post #5106198 (external link)
Darn.. I'm very sure I've been there. I remember that entrance and all the ivy covering the wall.

It's a National Trust or English Heritage estate somewhere.

In Cornwall?

Getting close;)

Spot on!!!! I could not find another image showing a closer view than the one you linked to. Personally I like the closer views!

Over to you Pete.

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Thanks. I knew I'd seen the place before. We visited there on the day that I left my camera at the B&B...

Those red buildings look as though they're in the Knightsbridge area?

Does the building have a specific name or is it known by its "occupancy"? i.e. scratching head ~ something like Blenheim Palace vs Prudential Insurance, if that makes any sense ;)

Hmmm... I'm probably giving it away here.

It's known (professionally) for the profession of it's denizens...

It's known (publically) for it's historical connection...

Errr! what about Lincolns Inn (Inns of Court)? Having said that I cannot find any proof images!

Edit: I was trying to ID the scultpures etc and have now found the the "lamb with flag" and "pegasus" do have a connection with the Inns of Court???

No.. It's not in the same district.

It's unfortunate (and very surprising) that I can't find reference shots of this same location, although the form of the buildings inside the entrance should be enough, along with my clues.

Londoners familiar with wandering the City should recognize this or at least be familar with what's inside there.
