Can anyone give me their thoughts of the Tamron 28-300mm?? I am using a 40D and was just wondering if this might be a good lens for my zoom needs. Mainly outdoor, not really wildlife, just my dog at the park....that kind of stuff. Your opinions are greatly appreciated...........

There was a gentleman that posted a thread recently who bought both and returned the the Tamron. I can't speak for the tamron but I'm enjoying my 18-200OS a lot

He returned the 18-250mm. The 18-200 is not quite as good optically as the 18-250mm but comparable to the 28-300mm. If you want to have stabilization then the Tamron 28-300mm VC might work for you. The VC works very well and optically it is about the same as the non VC version. The 18-250mm is sharper, has more contrast and less CA then either one. I liked it more than the Sigma 18-200mm OS.
