I'd been at a neighborhood park and saw this little one come out of the bushes next to the pond. It wasn't until I had a chance to look at the images on the PC that I noticed it was snagged in the plastic mesh backing from a piece of sod. If it weren't so sad, the image would have been pretty cute.

That's terrible. I would have gone back down there and released it.

And then I would show this to the park service and bitched about the products they use.

Well... poor little guy for sure.. but your shot of it is quite nice.

Yep, I agree. Git back there.... You can't show us that and then just leave it there.

I did go back the next morning, but didn't see any bird snagged in mesh. I was prepared too - with scissors, a towel, bird food, etc. There were a LOT of sparrows to look at, and every one looked fine. I've even been back several more times, so far, every one looks OK.
