I am a business person, with a degree in business, and my most recent job was working with small business clients in rural areas to help them write their busines splans and get financed. During that time the association I was working for was looking for a photographer in my area to go and take photos of a client for a provincial newspaper.

My boss volunteered me. The association thought they were going to get snapshots, but were pretty impressed with the results. Below is the shot they decided on. I like the very industrial feel of the shot.

The couple make some of the best flutes in the world and were very nice to work with.

Here's a link to the story.

Very neat image. I like the even lighting and the overall tone not very different from the man's fleshtone. This makes him melt in his environment, being part of it. This is possibly the effect you were after, and its a success. At reading the story though, I miss there were not one of these flutes hidden somewhere in the image.

I like the lighting too. Looks like a cramped space. Care to share how you lit this?

Yeah, about there not being a flute in the image, he is actually cutting the holes in a flute with the drill, but because of where I was, you can't see it.

The room was very small.

Here are a few more, but showing the flute this time!

I actually just bounced my flash off the ceiling.

I only shot about 30 photos, being busy talking the whole time, so I was pretty pleased with the results from such a small shoot. :)

The first one is the best IMO. the camera at straight angle made the difference. This gave the image this neat aspect that fits so well with the type of job he is doing. The missing flute is not a big deal.
