There's lots of bridges on the Canal du Midi. Some very simple and some not so and some are very tight! In fact, so tight height wise that the wheel, which stands proud of the bridge upper deck by less than a foot, has to be taken off and a smaller on fitted!

Fascinating bridge and towers.
Never seen towers on such an angle. Understand reason, but make for interesting construction.
Excellent photo.

The main entrance to the village of Minerve. An lovely ancient Cathar village in the Languadoc

And if you are interested here is a little bit of the bloody history of the village.

Beautiful structures. Must be a fascinating stroll through that landscape.

Did the history get censored? :p Course Language :p

It is a spectacular part of the country and the garrigue (scrub land) is a lovely place to walk. We were in our village walking groupe and spent a lot of time in the various parts. This is the village from the garrigue looking south east

I don't know about the history being censored, but it was not a good time to be a Cathar! I was never interested in history until we went there, but I now know a lot more about the Cathars than I used to. Oh yes, and Simon de Montford and the only ever European crusade. He was a nasty piece of work!

One of the nice things about the Languadoc is that it is the largest vine yard in the world. 1600 plus producers! I tried my best but in the 13 years there I still didn't manage to try them all :-(
