It looks like the bridge ends at wall, with no stairs to get up from it.

A couple of bridges in Tetbury Gloucestershire.

This carries the main road from the south. The small bit at the bottom fences off the field across the stream

The Clachan Bridge near Oban in Scotland, it is known as the Atlantic Bridge, as it links the mainland to the island of Seil. As it bridges the Clachan Sound, both ends of which link to the Atlantic Sea.

Some of our classic bridges here in Tasmania were designed, built by your ancestors.
Convicts sent out here only to distinguish themselves and receive much honour for their endeavours.
This one could be one such design/construction
