Got it - same bridge, north end. I didn't realize Forth Railroad Bridge has such a tall viaduct leading to it.

A long time ago.. Sun City

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. There's a substantial drop from the base of abutment to the surface of Rio Grande, another good twice the distance of base to the road surface. I am not particularly afraid of heights but standing at midspan and looking down, I felt as if I'd get sucked in. It's the site of numerous fatal jumps and the ribbons tied to the railings mourn those who cut their lives short on that site. The ribbons give the names of the deceased, their date of the jump and age at the time. Some were young, some old, some might have had family depending on them - it was a sorrowful and poignant punctuation in a wide open landscape.
