Third one reminds me of the princess bride. Down in the fire swamp. Rodents of unusual size. =)

When we were being surrounded by a pride of seven, at first we were too busy clicking away to really have any feelings other than "oh man this is great" and sheer awe,..

But as they walked past our open car windows,.. power windows with the motor shut off,.. ... close enough to smell them,. that was when we finally realized the situation, and saw our own reflections in there gaze, and we were pretty much "pork chops" :)

ha!!.. I'm soo glad we finally get to see some shots from you... I've been waiting very patiently........... (sorta). ;)

I do remember that feeling, but for me anyway it was more of a 'I can't believe they are barely paying attention to us'.. They weren't the least bit interested in us, the bakkie, the three white lenses hanging out the windows It felt like any noise we made and suddenly what looked like furry little house cats were going to let us know they definately didn't like our hypothetical discussion about how it looked like we could pet them. It was definately one of the more extroardinary events in my life to date.

By the way, how's the gallery plans going?... and do you have anymore shots done?... I'm dying to see your birds.. especially those bee eaters in Ngepi.

There are a few there that I didn't manage to capture so I especially enjoyed them, like the Yellow Mongoose, Spotted Eagle Owl, Red-Breasted Swallow, and Little Bee-eater.

Number one stands out but something about the light doesn't seem right - too cool. the title was exactly what I thought when I first saw it.

This was the first shots of that morning, and for some reason, the MkIII was set to jpeg..
I was pretty bummed when I realized, I don't recall how or why I set the camera to jpeg at all, it was the only time the whole three weeks I took jpegs.

"Spotted Eagle Owl" is that the name?
My book does not cover an Owls for some reason, and it looks nearly identical to our "Great Horned Owl" so I've just been using that name.
