Well in my rush on my way out for work my foot caught my camera strap and tossed it about 2 feet towards my desk. Now I have a 1/2 inch scratch on the screen. Its not too major, but in bright pictures I can see it pretty clearly.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement and how I can replace it myself?

You can buy a new cover glass from Canon. They are available at a reasonable cost.
To remove the old glass, you need a rubber vacuum suction thing (don't know what that's called in English?). Attach to the old glass and pull it out. The new class is fixed with self-adhesive tape.

In which language do you know what the rubber vacuum suction thing is called? And what is it called in that language?

I think that the tool comes with the new cover glass. Hopefully someone will confirm. Or you could verify it with Canon when the part is ordered. It is just a suction cup.

Swedish, maybe?

Anders, in American English it's a suction cup. I have no idea what the Brits might call it.

I bet one of the suction cups from a radar detector's windshield (Br: windscreen) mount would do the trick.

I just replaced one on a 30D 2 weeks ago for a mechanically challenged co-worker. It was incredibly easy. I’m not sure where he ordered it from but it was somewhere around $15us. I did use a hair dryer to soften the glue first and the thing popped right off. The whole process was less than a few minutes.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
